Bets studied at University of Pretoria from 1972 to 1974, with main subjects and interests Art and Art History.
In 1984 she attended a sculpture course at the Charles Gotthard Art School for an introduction to Ceramic Sculpture. Since then she has worked in metal, Perspex, polyurethane foam, artist’s clay. She works extensively in Wonderstone and Soapstone and lately also wood.
She has sculptures and mixed media works in Seattle, Memphis, Round Hill Virginia, and New York in the USA, in England and Belgium.
She paints in oils and uses artist’s crayons and pencil for drawings. From 1985 to 1987 she was Chairman of the Centurion Art Society, in 1988 Vice Chairman. From 1985 to 1988 on the Executive Management of the SA Art Association.
Honorary member of the Centurion Art Society.
