Join the art classes presented in the heart of the Southern Free State where the air is intoxicating, the stars are close, the people are real, the landscapes are breathtaking, the sunsets are unforgettable, and where the experience will leave you enriched and rejuvenated.

Introduction
• Basic drawing classes
• Teaching pencil control & line drawings
• Teaching shading techniques
• Introducing line, light and shadow to recognise form

• Applying the techniques to more intricate shapes

Overview
Creativity is a special gift and to access your own creativity you will be taught how to use basic materials and techniques to develop your own skills After completing the course the student will look at life with different eyes and new found abilities

Part One
Using a normal .5 HB clutch pencil you are trained to regard it as an extension of your hand by doing simple repetitive exercises

The basic shapes used in art to portray everyday objects are shown and the applications explained
When the student is ready line drawing is used to sketch shapes in a three dimensional way.

Part Two
At this point the student will be more comfortable with the medium and can move on to the next stage
Line, light and shadow are the basis for all art and the student is taught to recognize these elements.
Cross hatching will to taught to portray three dimensional shapes on a two dimensional surface.

Part Three
As soon as the student is fluent in doing pencil sketches colour will be introduced in the form of artist’s crayons.
Using the by now familiar forms the student will be shown how to use colour to represent the shapes in a recognizable way
Different subjects will be covered such as portraits, still lifes and landscapes

Summary
The student will now be ready to apply all the techniques to create their own art pieces
The techniques available to them will be pencil, charcoal and colour artist’s crayons

Price:
R2000 per person for 3 day course: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Classes from 9:00 to 12:00, then 14:00 to 17:00 daily, with the last afternoon spent in discussing the work done during the course.
All art materials can be supplied at an extra cost of R500 per person.
Accommodation can be arranged at a special rate.
